Enabling New Perspectives- Published Essay

In 2018, I received the McGowan Ethics Grant, which allowed me to research and write an essay on my choice of ethics. I chose to write about the ethics of the representation of people with disabilities in literature, specifically in Jeremy Scott's The Ables. My professor, Dr. Robin Field, co-wrote the essay with me, which was titled, "Enabling New Perspectives of (Super)Power and Disability in Jeremy Scott's The Ables." We submitted it to a collection of essays about superheroes and disability, which we were selected and will be published in the Fall of 2022. We presented our essay at the 2019 Popular Culture Association Expo held in Washington D.C. Below is both the essay and a video of our presentation.
